Structural changes are targeted to gain expertise in the field of inclusive schooling and in order to prepare students for the second part of their education and their practice as teachers. The IFS is responsible for scientific accompanying research of the project DoProfiL. The aim of this scientific accompanying research is to monitor developments during the project and contribute to quality assurance.

On the institutional level a content analysis of the handbooks of modules for teacher education is carried out. Furthermore, lecturers are asked to participate in a standardized online poll each semester to evaluate new or modificated formats of teacher training seminars.

On the individual level the focus of the investigations is on attitude and professional competencies of students. Students of all five teacher education courses provided at TU Dortmund are interviewed thrice during their studies. The interviews are carried out in two cohorts: a) students in bachelor courses, b) students in master courses. The first survey took place in winter semester 2016/2017, whereby 539 bachelor students and 404 master students participated.
