International activities at the IFS

The connection to the international scientific community is of great strategic importance for the IFS.  Thus, the IFS is anchored in top national and international research. Furthermore, scientists regularly publish their research results in English-language journals or present them at international conferences. In addition, the institute regularly hosts visiting scholars; on the one hand, staff members spend research stays abroad, and on the other hand, guest lecturers from abroad come to the institute for research stays, project exchanges or guest lectures. Finally, the area of teaching at the institute is also characterized by its international orientation, as there are, for example, teaching concepts for the implementation of intercultural education in teacher training.

During her research stay at the Laboratoire de Recherche sur les Apprentissages en Contexte (LaRAC) at the Université Grenoble Alpes, Grenoble, France, Justine Stang-Rabrig, PostDoc in the McElvany WG, presented her current research on the topics of attitudes and stereotype threat in the school context and exchanged ideas with the experts on site. After initial contact through a symposium organized by Justine Stang-Rabrig at the EARLI 2023 in Thessaloniki, Greece, an invitation to the LaRAC followed due to the common research interests on the topics of stereotype threat and teacher judgements to get to know each other better and exchange ideas with various researchers on site in Grenoble. During the research stay, collaborations were further developed, for example through joint paper projects. Many thanks for the enriching exchange!
