International activities at the IFS

The connection to the international scientific community is of great strategic importance for the IFS.  Thus, the IFS is anchored in top national and international research. Furthermore, scientists regularly publish their research results in English-language journals or present them at international conferences. In addition, the institute regularly hosts visiting scholars; on the one hand, staff members spend research stays abroad, and on the other hand, guest lecturers from abroad come to the institute for research stays, project exchanges or guest lectures. Finally, the area of teaching at the institute is also characterized by its international orientation, as there are, for example, teaching concepts for the implementation of intercultural education in teacher training.

PHOENIX – Kick-off of the international Scientific Advisory Board

The PHOENIX project and its Scientific Advisory Board initiated their collaboration on April 28 with a digital kick-off meeting.

The research conducted in PHOENIX is supported by a Scientific Advisory Board consistent of international experts in the fields of educational psychology, educational science, and physics didactics. Each expert contributes knowledge and experience on key topics, guiding the design and evaluation of a psychological intervention in physics and other STEM subjects. The Scientific Advisory Board covers expertise on students’ motivational processes and psychological intervention approaches as well as achievement assessment and identity in physics.

On 28 April, the collaboration between the PHOENIX team and its Scientific Advisory Board began with a digital kick-off meeting. This included a project presentation as well as a joint discussion on the planned intervention. 

We thank all experts for their valuable input and look forward to future meetings and discussions! As part of the collaboration, the experts will also give presentations on their key topics. Stay tuned.

The PHOENIX project is part of the Cluster of Excellence “Center for Chiral Electronics” (EXC 3112), which is funded as part of the German federal and state governments' strategy for excellence at the universities of Halle-Wittenberg, Freie Universität Berlin, and Regensburg, with TU Dortmund University as an involved institution.
