International activities at the IFS
The connection to the international scientific community is of great strategic importance for the IFS. Thus, the IFS is anchored in top national and international research. Furthermore, scientists regularly publish their research results in English-language journals or present them at international conferences. In addition, the institute regularly hosts visiting scholars; on the one hand, staff members spend research stays abroad, and on the other hand, guest lecturers from abroad come to the institute for research stays, project exchanges or guest lectures. Finally, the area of teaching at the institute is also characterized by its international orientation, as there are, for example, teaching concepts for the implementation of intercultural education in teacher training.

The IFS warmly welcomed Professor Mingchia Yeh from Slippery Rock University, Pennsylvania, USA, in May. Professor Yeh was a guest in Michael Becker's research group for a two-week research stay and gave a lecture on “Designing Research in Exercise Science: Insights from Wearable Tech Validation and Intervention Studies.”
During his visit, the researcher shared current and future research approaches with doctoral students and scientists at the IFS and the Data Analytics in Sports Science research group at TU Dortmund University, which is headed by junior professor Dr. Vahid Farrahi. Professor Yeh also worked with Dr. Yi-Jhen Wu on the DFG-funded AgeWell project to gain new insights into the development of well-being in young adults. The IFS would like to thank Professor Mingchia Yeh for the fruitful exchange and new ideas for interdisciplinary collaborations that combine data analysis and empirical educational research.
