To find out how best to attract students to the natural sciences and specifically to physics, a large-scale intervention study will be carried out in schools over several years as part of the new Cluster of Excellence “Center for Chiral Electronics”. The Cluster of Excellence is funded as part of the Excellence Strategy of the German federal and state governments and investigates chirality in solids in order to enable more energy-efficient electronics. However, the joint project is not only dedicated to researching the fundamentals of new technologies, it also aims to reach young people with a support program and get them excited about physics. Professor Nele McElvany from the Center for Research on Education and School Development (IFS) at the TU Dortmund University is also involved.
