The European Conference on Educational Research (ECER) took place this year at the University of Nicosia in Cyprus from August 27 – 30. The overarching theme of the conference was “Education in an Age of Uncertainty: memory and hope for the future”. In a symposium entitled “Analyzing the Potentials of Digitalisation in an Age of Uncertainty”, the Center for Research on Education and School Development (IFS) presented research findings from the Progress in Reading Literacy Study (PIRLS) 2021. In the contribution “What is the Relationship between Digital Schoolwork and Reading Literacy? Findings from PIRLS 2021 for Primary Education in European Countries” PD Dr. Ramona Lorenz discussed, among other things, the use of digital media in the classroom in relation to reading literacy and the socio-economic background of pupils in an international comparison.
Many thanks for the exciting exchange!
