The Scientific Advisory Board of the German Philological Association (DPhV) held a conference on the topic of ‘PISA revisited’ in Berlin on October 10, 2024.
The conference programme included three different thematic focuses to examine the PISA school performance study (Programme for International Student Assessment): “Empirical Educational Research”, “Political Implications” and “Subject Content for the Design of Teaching Subjects and Schools”.
In the thematic block on empirical educational research, IFS Professor Nele McElvany presented her lecture entitled “Measuring basic education permanently with PISA and IGLU – but with no effect on teaching” at the event.
Together with the second speaker in the focus area – Professor Kristina Reiss from the Technical University of Munich – the presentation was followed by a lively discussion with many questions from the audience.
