The project Stereotype Threat starts its second survey stage. The project examines the effect of stereotypes on vocabulary acquisition of learners in different age groups. It also aims to identify moderating and mediating factors of this effect. For this purpose, roundabout 1.500 ninth graders in 60 schools will do vocabulary exercises in the next weeks. During these tests, i.a. measurements of the level of cortisol will take place in order to check if the stress hormone cortisol is present in survey situations. In addition, the survey focuses on individual student characteristics like student motivation, as it may be assumed that it has an impact on the effect.
