The IFS School Panel comprises elementary schools in Germany that have participated in PIRLS 2016. The aim is to examine trends in school development.

How have key general and digitization-related institutional characteristics developed at the school, teacher, and teaching levels between 2016 and 2026 in elementary schools in Germany? In order to obtain a broad picture of the implementation and circumstances of the development processes, the third survey is now being conducted at the same schools at five-year intervals. This will provide unique data that will enable important insights into school development. The 2026 surveys started this week. We would like to thank everyone involved for their tremendous commitment and look forward to the upcoming school visits!
