IFS at the 54th DGPs Congress in Luxembourg

We look back on an inspiring 54th Congress of the German Psychological Society (DGPs) in Luxembourg. Held under the motto “Haltung. Vielfalt. Zukunft.”, the congress focused on current questions and challenges in psychological research. The Center for Research on Education and School Development (IFS) was also represented with five contributions on topics in educational and school psychology.

As part of a symposium, Junior Professor Justine Stang-Rabrig presented her work, “Enhancing Teacher Well-Being – Insights, Perspectives, and Future Directions,” focusing on factors influencing teacher well-being and approaches to supporting teachers. In another contribution, “Stereotype Threat and Its Versatile Effects on Students’ Vocabulary, Motivation, and Well-Being,” she examined the effects of stereotype threat on learning, motivation, and well-being.

Dr. Sebastian Vogel presented his research on Teachers’ Perceptions as a Mediator of Factors Influencing Academic Self-Concept and Competence.

Jonas Thiel addressed the role of teaching quality in socioeconomic differences in political interest and support for democratic values.

Dr. Anja Riemenschneider presented research on multilingualism-sensitive teaching and educational equity.

The IFS contributions thus addressed key aspects of the congress motto – from the importance of well-being and belonging, to addressing diversity, to the question of how schools and teaching can be designed to be future-oriented and equitable.
