Professor Nele McElvany Appointed to the Federal Youth Advisory Board of the BMBFSFJ
- News

IFS Director Professor Nele McElvany has been appointed by the Federal Ministry of Education, Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women, and Youth (BMBFSFJ) to the Federal Youth Advisory Board (FYAB) for the 21st legislative period. As a representative of the academic community, her work on the council will focus on issues related to the education of young people aged 6 to 18.
The Federal Youth Advisory Board is an expert committee consisting of up to 15 members from politics, administration, associations and academia that advises the federal government on key issues of child and youth welfare, as well as on cross-cutting issues of child and youth policy. Its advisory activities focus on processes of social change and their impact on the realities of the lives of children, adolescents and young adults. The Federal Youth Advisory Board presents the findings of its deliberations to the federal government, the Federal Ministry for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth, as well as to the (specialist) public in the form of detailed position papers or shorter policy briefs.
At the inaugural meeting, State Secretary Dr. Petra Bahr officially appointed the 15 members of the new BJK to the committee. The meeting also provided an opportunity for members to get to know one another and exchange ideas.
We congratulate Professor McElvany on her appointment and wish her and the Federal Youth Advisory Board success in their work!
