International experts presented recent research on the topic of “Well-being in the Educational Context” at the 6th VKS.

As part of the 6th IFS Virtual Keynote Series (VKS) on the topic of “Well-being in the Educational Context: Understanding and Enhancing Student and Teacher Well-being,” renowned international scientists provided exciting insights into their current research on well-being in the educational context.

On January 19, the focus was on student well-being. Katja Upadyaya from the University of Helsinki, Finland, gave a presentation on “Insights into student well-being: From demands and resources to balance” and showed how demands and resources influence learners' engagement and mental health. The second keynote speech was given by Shannon Suldo from the University of South Florida, USA, on the topic of “School-based preventative intervention to foster students' subjective well-being,” in which she presented a school-based prevention program to promote subjective well-being.

On January 26, the focus was on the well-being of teachers and school administrators. Irena Buric from the University of Zadar, Croatia, spoke on “Teachers' and school principals' well-being: What determines it, why it matters, and how to preserve it?” and emphasized the importance of professional resources such as support from colleagues for professional engagement. JunJun Chen from the Education University of Hong Kong concluded with her keynote address “Leading with resilience: A journey of school well-being cascade,” in which she explained how resilient leadership can promote a positive school culture.

Both sessions were followed by lively discussions with interested participants from numerous countries. Thank you for the excellent presentations and the inspiring exchange!
