The "schools in challenging situations - research findings and school development in the Ruhr region", edited by Isabell van Ackeren, Heinz Günter Holtappels, Nina Bremm and Annika Hillebrand-Petri, presents the results of an innovative research and development project carried out over six years by two research groups at the IFS and the University of Duisburg-Essen. In the process, 36 schools in challenging situations were supported with a data-based approach to school networking, advice and further training in school development. The anthology provides a broad overview of research findings on the development of schools and strategies for overcoming problems.
