Shaping the Future Together: SUBSES Network Meeting in Erfurt

The DFG-network network supports research on the influence of the social environment on the educational processes of students from diverse backgrounds.

Members of the DFG-network “Influences of the Social Environment on Educational Processes of Students of Different Ethnic and Socioeconomic Backgrounds” (SUBSES) met in Erfurt on March 5 and 6, 2026, to further advance their joint research. 

The meeting focused on the question of how the network’s successful collaboration can be sustained beyond its current term. In a future workshop, ideas were developed, perspectives explored, and concrete next steps discussed and documented. In addition, the participants took the opportunity to prepare for the planned symposium at the upcoming GEBF conference in Munich and to advance the work on the special issue of Zeitschrift für Erziehungswissenschaft. 

The meeting thus provided not only a space for intensive substantive work but also for stimulating discussions and new ideas for further collaboration within the network and beyond.
