IFS at IRC 2025: Focus on education for a sustainable future
- Institute

The IFS was represented at this year's IEA International Research Conference (IRC), which took place in Rome from 25 to 27 June 2025 under the theme ‘Researching Education for Sustainable Futures’. IFS researchers presented current research findings in two exciting contributions.
Dr. Ulrich Ludewig presented the paper ‘Reading Literacy Decline in European Countries: Disentangling School Closures and Changes in Out-of-School Learning Conditions’ at the symposium on pandemic-related changes in education.
Dr. Ruben Kleinkorres was represented with the contribution ‘Are Printed Books Still a Valid Proxy for Socio-Economic Status?’ in a session on the home learning environment.
The IRC provided a valuable platform for international exchange on sustainable educational research. We would like to thank you for the enriching discussions and are pleased about the many impulses and co-operations that emerged from the conference.
