Professor Anita Schilcher (University of Regensburg) discusses the impact of German language teachers’ professional knowledge on student performance.

On May 21, Professor Anita Schilcher (University of Regensburg) will be a guest speaker at the IFS-Lecture Series and will deliver a lecture titled “The Influence of Teachers’ Domain-Specific Professional Knowledge on Students’ Academic Achievement in German.”

Professor Anita Schilcher holds the Chair of Didactics of German Language and Literature at the University of Regensburg. Her research focuses on key areas of German language teaching, particularly reading and writing instruction, literary learning, and the professionalism of German language teachers. A major focus is on the development and empirical investigation of approaches to promoting reading and writing, especially in elementary schools. Another focus is the study of teachers’ subject-specific professional knowledge and its significance for high-quality instruction. In this context, she is involved in larger research consortia and projects, such as those focused on measuring and promoting teacher competencies or on evidence-based reading and writing instruction.

The lecture will take place on May 21 from 2:15 to 3:45 p.m. in Room 022 of the CDI Building. This year, the series will focus on the topic “Paths of School Development.”

We cordially invite you to attend the event and look forward to welcoming Professor Anita Schilcher to the IFS!
