School information sessuins for the Progress in International Reading Literacy Study (PIRLS) 2026 are currently ongoing. The background of the study and the international and national procedures are being presented. The specific steps and processes for the data collection at schools on the day of the survey are also being explained. Together with colleages from IEA Hamburg, who are conducting the fieldwork, Professor Nele McEövany, as national research coordinator, and the PIRLS team at IFS are supporting thr schools during this phase prior ro the start of data collection in May.
To inform the participating fourth-graders and their parents about PIRLS, multiligual information material and an explanatory video have been produced. This is intended to show everyone how important their participation in the study is and how relevant their responses are for the analyses.
We thank everyone involved for their valuable support of the study and the preparations, and wish a successful start to the main data collection phase of PRILS 2026!
