International activities at the IFS
The connection to the international scientific community is of great strategic importance for the IFS. Thus, the IFS is anchored in top national and international research. Furthermore, scientists regularly publish their research results in English-language journals or present them at international conferences. In addition, the institute regularly hosts visiting scholars; on the one hand, staff members spend research stays abroad, and on the other hand, guest lecturers from abroad come to the institute for research stays, project exchanges or guest lectures. Finally, the area of teaching at the institute is also characterized by its international orientation, as there are, for example, teaching concepts for the implementation of intercultural education in teacher training.

Michael Becker is once again among the world’s most productive researchers in the field of educational psychology. In a recent study by Veit Kubik et al., published in "Frontiers in Psychology", he is listed among the top 50 most productive researchers for the period 2017–2022 and holds 22nd place in the combined ranking.
The study analyzes publications in leading general journals in educational psychology and takes into account both different evaluation methods and a large number of researchers from various perspectives. As a result, the study provides a particularly nuanced and up-to-date perspective on scientific productivity in an international comparison. In addition to established top researchers, the study also highlights a new generation of productive early-career researchers.
Overall, the ranking underscores Professor Michael Becker’s consistently high level of research output and international visibility in his field. Two other researchers, Professor Fani Lauermann and Professor Hanna Gaspard, who also conducted research at the IFS during this period, are included in the ranking.
Congratulations!
