KoPaS invites you to its final conference in Berlin on June 16, 2026

The KoPaS project presents findings and materials on language-supportive teaching in all-day schooling.

After more than three years of project work, the project “Multi-professional cooperation and professional development for content-focused language-supportive teaching in all-day school settings” (KoPaS) invites participants to its final conference in Berlin on June 16, 2026.

The project focuses on fostering the development of both subject-specific and language-related learning among primary school students in grades 3 and 4 in all-day school settings. To this end, approaches to language-supportive teaching, also considering students‘ individual multilingualism were implemented. At the same time, KoPaS aims to strengthen cooperation between teachers, educational professionals, and extracurricular learning settings. 

At the final conference, key project results will be presented for the first time. In addition, newly developed teaching materials and guidance documents on the topic of “Education for Sustainable Development” (ESD) will be introduced, which can be used in classroom teaching and all-day school programmes. These materials will be made available as Open Educational Resources after the event.

Professor Birgit Heppt from IFS – co-lead of the language education subproject – will open the conference with a welcome address and introduction. Subsequently, Lena Biele and Dr. Anja Riemenschneider (IFS), as well as Dr. Anna Volodina and Dr. Sofie Henschel (IQB), will provide insights into the aims, implementation, and effectiveness of the training programmes and the curriculum developed within the project for language education in the context of “Education for Sustainable Development” (ESD).

The event will conclude with a panel discussion on opportunities and future perspectives of language education in all-day schooling, moderated by Professor Birgit Heppt.
