In May 2023, the comprehensive report of the Progress In Reading Literacy Study 2021 (PIRLS 2021) for Germany was published. The aim of the PIRLS-Transfer accompanying project is to prepare and utilise these results in a practice-oriented manner for further development and orientation in school practice and in educational administration. This handout presents the most important study results from 2021 and provides practical options for action for reading promotion and its implementation in primary schools based on the latest scientific findings. It thus offers impulses for teachers, school development and all those interested in educational issues.
