The IFS presented current research on civic engagement and academic motivation at the AERA Conference 2025 in Denver.

The IFS was represented at the American Educational Research Association (AERA) conference on “Research, Remedy, and Repair: Toward Just Education Renewal”, which took place from April 23 to 27, 2025 in Denver, USA. In the symposium “Factors Shaping Participation and Outcomes of Participation From Childhood Through Adolescence to Emerging Adulthood”, Pascal Alscher, Elisabeth Graf and Frank Reichert presented research findings on predictors and consequences of political participation. A contribution by Pascal Alscher, Elisabeth Graf and Nele McElvany focused on the Civic Voluntarism Model and its significance for the political participation of young people. Elisabeth Graf also presented a poster entitled “Domain-Specific Career Aspirations, Motivation, and Achievement in Math and Reading Across Adolescence”. Her participation in the symposium “Feature Engineering for Learning Analytics in Higher Education Research on Motivation and Self-Regulation” with the contribution “Situational and Longitudinal Associations Between Appraisals, Anxiety, and Learning” was also met with great interest.

The conference provided an excellent platform for exchanging views on current research topics. We are delighted with the insights gained and the networking with colleagues from all over the world!
