The cooperation between IFS and LIfBi in the NEPS will be extended, with a focus on well-being, civic literacy and irregular educational trajectories.

We are delighted to extend the successful cooperation between the Center for Research on Education and School Development (IFS) and the Leibniz Institute for Educational Trajectories (LIfBi) as part of the National Educational Panel Study (NEPS). The NEPS aims to collect data on long-term educational processes in Germany.

The IFS is responsible for stage 4, which acts as a link between elementary school and upper secondary school. Since March 2019, the IFS has been working on a new secondary school cohort (SC 8), in which around 270 schools with around 6,200 pupils took part. Stage 4 focuses on three central topics: Firstly, the ability of young people to actively participate in democratic processes is examined (Civic Literacy). Secondly, school well-being is recorded, including social and psychological aspects. Thirdly, different educational trajectories will be analyzed, in particular those involving grade repetition or changes of school type.

In this context, a position has been advertised that includes tasks in the planning, implementation and evaluation of studies on the focal points of NEPS Stage 4. This includes collaboration on scientific publications, presentations at (inter)national conferences as well as the compilation of survey instruments and support with data collection and analysis. We look forward to receiving committed applications!
