The project “Digital and analog reading: Effects on vocabulary gains (DiAna)” investigates how digital media affect the vocabulary acquisition of fourth-grade students. It examines whether reading texts on paper or on a tablet leads to different learning outcomes. Children read two short texts designed to teach them new words. They read one of these texts on paper and the other on a tablet. Finally, it is checked on which medium more words were learned. The study also takes into account individual factors such as reading motivation and the children's weekly computer use. The project aims to show how digital media can be used specifically in the classroom to promote vocabulary acquisition and integrate new technologies into everyday school life. The project is part of the interdisciplinary research area “From Prediction to Agile Interventions in the Social Sciences (FAIR)”.
