Professor Isabell van Ackeren-Mindl Gives a Lecture at the IFS

Professor Isabell van Ackeren-Mindl (UDE) will held a lecture on findings regarding school development in socially disadvantaged areas.

As part of the IFS lecture series, the IFS welcomed Professor Isabell van Ackeren-Mindl from the University of Duisburg-Essen (UDE) to visit the institute. Professor van Ackeren-Mindl gave a lecture titled “From ‘Developing Potential—Strengthening Schools’ through the Talent School Pilot to ‘School Makes You Strong’: Lessons Learned from Supporting and Researching School Development in Socially Disadvantaged Areas.”

Isabell van Ackeren-Mindl is a professor of educational system and school development research at the University of Duisburg-Essen. Shehas led the Educational Research Working Group (AG bifo) in the Faculty of Educational Sciences since 2009, overseeing its various research areas in the context of issues related to governance / educational governance in the education system, school development (particularly under conditions of social disparities and digitalization in education), and the professionalization of teachers. She is also one of the three spokespersons for the “Future of Education” research community at the University Alliance Ruhr.

The IFS lecture series takes place on Thursdays from 2:15–3:45 p.m. in Room 022 of the CDI building. This year, the series focuses on the theme “Paths of School Development.”
