The print campaign for the project “Reading with Children for Parents – Change in the Ruhr Area,” sponsored by the Alfried Krupp von Bohlen und Halbach Foundation, is entering its final phase. We have taken the feedback from schools to heart and created new videos on the most frequently mentioned topics. Our new flyers now refer to five short videos in different languages that address the following questions:
- How can I recognise the problems my child has with reading?
- How can I improve my child's reading fluency?
- How can I promote my child's reading comprehension?
- How can I increase my child's motivation to read?
- How can I support my multilingual child in learning to read?
Once again, 300 primary schools in the Ruhr area were selected, 100 each with low, medium and high social indices. Using different QR codes on the flyers, it will later be possible to analyse whether the number of views of the videos varies depending on the social index of the schools. The flyers are distributed to schools to give parents access to the informative videos and make them aware of this valuable resource.
The aim of the project is to support parents in promoting reading practices within the family. Easy-to-understand explanations and practical tips are intended to improve children's reading skills. In addition, the project will investigate whether behaviour in the context of promoting reading within the family varies depending on the social index of the schools.
