Successful 10th Dortmund Symposium “Education in Transition”

Numerous renowned experts discussed the topic of “Education in Transition: Between Technological Innovation and Social Responsibility” at the 10th Dortmund Symposium on Empirical Educational Research on July 4, 2025. Professor Aladin El-Mafaalani opened the event with a keynote speech on the topic of “Childhood in transition: readjusting the relationship between family and school”. The keynote was was commented on by Professor Birgit Heppt from the IFS. The second keynote speech was given by Professor Michael Kerres from the University of Duisburg-Essen on the topic of “Natural and artificial intelligence – readjusting the relationship between humans and technology”, commented on by Professor Sabine Seufert from the University of St. Gallen. Professor Ralf Koerrenz from Friedrich Schiller University Jena also presented the “School: Digital – Democratic (SchuDiDe)” project. Postdocs Dr. Livia Kuklick and Dr. Pascal Alscher presented their current research on the topic in the form of spotlights, which were commented on by Professor Marco Kalz from the Heidelberg University of Education and Professor Marcus Pietsch from Leuphana University Lüneburg. 14 Early Career Researchers also presented their posters, Samuel Bellinghausen from the University of Münster received the prize for the best poster by doctoral students, Dr. Mareike Ehlert also from the University of Münster for the best poster by postdocs – congratulations.
