André Meisner and Dr .Edeltraud Hammes-Schmitz were guests at the IFS on 6 May and gave a practice-based talk on the GRID model.

André Meisner, a teacher at a Gesamtschule in Duisburg, and Dr. Edeltraud Hammes-Schmitz, lecturer and project manager at the University of Cologne, were guests at the IFS on May 6. In a practice-oriented talk, the two speakers presented the so-called GRID model – an innovative instrument for support diagnostics and planning in a school context.

The GRID model is based on theoretical concepts for the conditional analysis of learning difficulties and enables the preventative identification of learning problems as well as the development of individualised support measures. Mr Meisner gave an insight into the concrete implementation of the model at his school in Duisburg. Building on his further training in learning therapy, he was able to develop a concept for establishing multi-professional teams together with Dr. Hammes-Schmitz.

The presentation offered a variety of points of reference for research and practice in the field of school diagnostics and intervention and was met with great interest by the participants. We would like to thank Mr Meisner and Ms Hammes-Schmitz for their exciting contribution and all participants for the stimulating exchange!
