The school year is drawing to a close for many students - a school year that was again heavily influenced by Corona. In an interview with Focus Online, Nele McElvany, Executive Director of the IFS, explained why it is not possible to speak of "the disconnected generation”, but rather should look at children and their needs individually, and why it is important to focus on teaching key skills such as reading and math when it comes to catching up in subject areas. She also addressed the current, consistent link between compulsory education and attendance and suggested considering more flexible concepts that could benefit everyone.
