Practice Portal
Welcome to the IFS Practice Portal!
In our practice portal, we use various formats – Tuesdays for Education, recommendations for practice from research projects, practical handouts for the classroom, video portal – to present current scientific findings in a practical way and provide information about our research and our institute. With the practice portal, we are addressing all interested stakeholders in the education system and aim to achieve a successful transfer between science and practice.
Because the Practice Portal is made for those practicing in the german-speaking education system, most formats are only offered only in German.
Tuesdays for Education
Consisting of a webinar, a short report and a press release (available only in German). Once per quarter current topics from the educational context will be addressed and discussed in regard to acute challenges such as the merely average results in international comparative studies, the slow digitalization of schools in Germany and the shortage of teachers.
Recommendations for practice from research projects
Our practical handouts from research projects aim to transfer complex research results into practice (available only in German). Our practical handout “IGLU 2021 compact” provides information on evidence-based reading training and gives recommendations for school practice. In “Reading with children for parents”, we offer parents support and suggestions to promote reading together with children. The practical volumes “All In” provide practical materials for different areas of all-day secondary schools.
Practical handouts for the classroom
Here, we summarize study results on the one hand and provide practical material for use in the classroom on the other. All teachers are cordially invited to use the practical materials provided in their lessons (available only in German).
Video Portal
In our video portal, we introduce ourselves with short and concise video clips, give practical tips in the form of explanatory videos, provide an in-depth insight into our research projects, give students an insight into our research and the research process using animated videos (available only in German).
We also present research findings, aimed in particular at the (inter)national scientific community and anyone who is interested in empirical educational research. In the English-language videos, we present concise summaries of our research results, for example from projects and/or publications.
