Roland Berger Foundation at the GGS Sandstraße
The Roland Berger Foundation is running an intensive support programme for severely disadvantaged children at GGS Sandstraße. In the associated scientific evaluation project, empirically based findings are being obtained on how children from challenging social environments develop during the first years of primary school when substantial additional and targeted support is provided at their school. On the basis of these findings, highly relevant social insights are to be derived for other schools in similarly challenging situations.

Project description
The children's development is expected to be assessed in the following key areas at the start of the project and regularly once a year at the end of each school year to accompany the project:
- Language skills
- Mathematical skills
- Well-being, emotions (e.g. impulse control)
- Motivation, attitudes, identification
- Social cohesion, social skills, behavioural problems
- Motor skills
In addition to the areas of development mentioned, the transitions between grades and to secondary schools should also be analysed and days of absence taken into account.

Selected or anticipated results and outlook
The results of the scientific evaluation and interim findings are presented to the Roland Berger Foundation in the form of reports and presentations, published in scientific journals and presented and discussed at conferences. In particular, findings on possible transfer to other schools in similarly challenging situations are also made available to education policy makers, education administrators and education practitioners
