Project description

The COLD project studies the competencies of school teachers and adult educators who teach German as a second language in linguistically diverse classrooms. The German Institute for Adult Education - Leibniz Centre for Lifelong Learning (DIE) is the head of the interdisciplinary joint project that is funded by the promotion program Cooperative Excellence by Leibniz Competition 2019. The project addresses the special demands for teaching and didactics that affect all fields of education due to newly immigrated children, teens and grown-ups.

The study takes place in teaching contexts with educators in preparation and integration classes. In close cooperation with the other joint partners, team Lauermann pays special attention to the following questions: How distinct are the diagnostic competencies of the teachers? Which cognitive and motivational determinants affect their work? How do teacher and pupils interact?
